Immersive sci-fi narrative

Bethesda Game Studios, the award-winning developers of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4, has announced Starfield, their first new world in 25 years. Create whatever character you choose and explore with unmatched freedom in this next-generation role-playing game set amid the stars.

Starfield is a space adventure game that uses next-generation technology and is built on the all-new Creation Engine 2. It takes you on a trip across space as you try to solve humanity's biggest enigma.

Is Starfield open world?

The full-featured Bethesda Game Studios role-playing experience, as seen in titles like The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim and Fallout 4, has been adapted to a brand-new science fiction setting in Starfield. Bethesda is known for its sprawling open-world RPGs and this futuristic title falls right into that category as well.

All of this makes the game sound like Bethesda's usual fare, but if there's one thing we can count on, it'll be the diversity the developer is renowned for incorporating into their games to make them stand out from the rest. The Elder Scrolls games are high fantasy games with melee weapons, bows, and magic, whereas the Fallout games are all about amazing firearms.

So, while Starfield has many of the same open-world RPG aspects as Bethesda's past games, such as branching tales and huge areas to explore, there's clearly room for it to stand alone. This may seem self-evident, but it's worth reiterating. Following Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda, the publisher stated that new Bethesda titles, including Starfield, will be available on Xbox Game Pass.

Enhanced accessibility, mobility, and communication

To make Starfield more accessible for more players, Bethesda has included a large font mode. This mode is particularly crucial in an RPG with extensive amounts of text, catering to players with visual impairments, various monitor sizes, and those using handheld devices for game streaming. By offering a larger font size, the game ensures that players can comfortably read and engage with the in-game content and enhance their overall experience.

The game also features a thousand worlds to give players a multitude of environments to discover. While only around 10% of these planets support life, this selection sets the stage for an intriguing mix of landscapes to explore. Notably, the absence of land vehicles or mountable creatures emphasizes the importance of on-foot exploration, adding a layer of challenge and encouraging players to immerse themselves in the game world.

In addition to the exploration aspect, this RPG also introduces the boost pack as an in-game mobility tool. Described as a "vehicle," this boost pack offers enhanced mobility to facilitate exploration on different planets. Players can expect a significant alteration in how they traverse landscapes, particularly on low-gravity planets. The boost pack adds a dynamic element to the gameplay, providing players with new ways to navigate and engage with the diverse environments they encounter.

To further enhance the immersive experience, the game incorporates in-game radio stations. While the use of these radio stations is limited to specific locations, they offer a localized soundtrack that accompanies players on their adventures. This feature adds depth and immersion to the gameplay, creating a more immersive and thematic experience as players explore different areas of the game world.

Starfield’s Version 1.7.36 update

The out-of-this-world role-playing game Starfield’s newest update patch is a rather modest one, primarily focusing on changes to the Settings, granting players the freedom to tweak their Field of View (FOV). This new feature provides players with an enhanced ability to adjust their perspective in either the first or third person. In addition to this, the update also introduces a series of performance and stability improvements, strengthening the overall gameplay experience.

What to expect from the upcoming Shattered Space DLC

As revealed by Bethesda director Todd Howard, Shattered Space is just one of the Starfield DLCs the studio is working on. It’s set to be an annual story expansion, with all the action set on one planet, making it a denser experience. Of course, the main quests and storyline will still have players zooming from one solar system to another. On the other hand, free and bite-sized updates are going to be released periodically throughout the year.

An RPG to watch out for

Starfield is a new space-themed role-playing game that offers unparalleled freedom to players to create their characters and embark on a grand quest to solve the greatest mystery of humanity. The game features customizable spaceships, mesmerizing graphics, and an immersive storyline. Although there is no multiplayer mode, the game has the potential to be played by various groups of people.
